NASHVILLE & MUSIC BIZ

NOMEX WILL TAKE NORDIC MUSIC COMPANIES TO NASHVILLE

Music Biz conference event usually takes place in May in Nashville, Tennessee, USA. NOMEX, the pan-Nordic platform of Nordic music export organizations, organizes a Nordic Trade Mission in connection with the event.

Music Biz is one of the most important business and networking events for the music industry in the United States. Over the past few years, Nashville has become the most important music industry hub alongside Los Angeles and New York, and several important players in the industry have moved their operations to Nashville.

Nashville's brand "music city" refers above all to a strong tradition in the live music and songwriting tradition as well as the home of country music, but today Nashville attracts a huge number of up-and-coming songwriters from all genres and at the same time it has become home to numerous music companies. The role of the Music Biz event, above all as a platform for the development of business and partnerships in the music business, has become more significant through the fast development of the city into a music hub.

Music Finland and Music Norway brought their delegations for the first time to Nashville in 2022. We are already seeing a lot of positive results coming up from last year and the chance to bring a Nordic delegation from all the 5 countries is the ideal next step. We are stronger together.“Turo Pekari, Innovation and Business Development Executive, Music Finland

“The Music Business Association applauds and encourages the Nordic Trade Mission's initiative to bring music business professionals to Nashville, allowing for deeper connection and collaboration in an all-too important global hub for the industry at large. Nashville has been home to our Annual Music Biz Conference since 2015, and in that time it has evolved into a thriving melting pot for creatives and executives alike to push the industry at large forward, gain exposure for international innovations & working methods, and especially to support songwriters and publishers who are the heart of what we do. We look forward to welcoming and working with our peers from the Nordic music industry in just a few short months!" — Music Biz President, Portia Sabin

Alongside the Music Biz, NOMEX organize a tailored program for music exporters, consisting of meetings, company visits and networking during the Music Biz event in May. The NOMEX program running in parallel the event runs approximately 2.5 days. In addition, participants take part in the Music Biz event's own seminar program and side events. A Nashville-based creative services company, GoodCopBadCop, co-produce the Nordic programming.

The trade mission is offered primarily to music publishing companies and managements representing songwriters and composers. The selection criteria are the relevance of the company and its customers in the US market, as well as the timeliness and professionalism of the export plan. The choices are also influenced by the diversity of the participants.
